Oh, it was truly something. She seemed perplexed and horrified at the same time, and I really couldn't help but giggle a bit. Poor mom. She has no idea what terrors the depths of the internet hold....

Oh lord, furries. As someone who used to draw them/still does on occasion for friends' personas, I spent a good deal of time trying to explain what they were to the parental units. To my credit, I stated that they'd been around for millennia -- think about those Egyptian gods! -- so I wasn't weird at all for drawing them. *laughs*

*shakes head, laughing* Oh, Cathy. I believe I may have traumatized her slightly. (What brought it upo was an ancient article in Time magazine about Dumbledore being gay that she was irritated with -- the issue mentioned, of all things, the Kirk/Spock madness that was among the first slashfiction on teh intarwebz. She didn't know what it was, so I was forced to step in. Dear lord.)

It was in the article! The article brought up K/S fanfiction! (Which made me LOL between bouts of wanting to smack the author for writing in such a condescending, whiny, utterly obnoxious tone.)

It did not end well, alas. My mom was raised as a conservative Catholic, and the thought of any non-heteronormative thing makes her flip out a little. It's actually kind of awkward for me sometimes, because sometimes I can't decide if my opinions on the subject mean I'm slipping morally or am actually enlightened. *frowns*
