Ladies Night [open for the girls]

It may have been the 23rd century, but it was often terribly clear that the women of Starfleet were operating in a man's world. Women were outnumbered by men, and many of them had at one time or another found themselves on the receiving end of a pat on the shoulder or too-sweet tone of voice that told them that this was men's work, and they were ( Read more... )

Mira instantly approved of the idea when she received Angela's invitation, despite how silly it sounded for a group of grown women to have a slumber party. Either way, it would be a nice break away from all the male egos and their naturally aggressive tactics- not to mention she was sure they all needed time to gossip talk about some of the recent things that have been happening around the starship.

Knocking on Angela's door before entering, pillow and blanket hiked under her one of her arms, she was greeted by a stream of bright, colorful party decorations. She couldn't help but laugh in amusement and adoration. "All out or nothing, I see," she commented, beaming at the Ensign. "You should have told me. I would have helped you set up, or at least pitched in."

"It was really a spur of the moment sort of thing," Angela said with a grin. "But I'll let you know next time."

Stepping aside so Mira could come into the room, she nodded to the couch and then to the small table that was covered with snacks and drinks. "You can put your stuff down wherever and feel free to start drinking." Angela smiled lop-sidedly as she raised the glass her her hand. "After all, I have!"

Janice stood outside of Angela's quarters in her pink pajamas. Pillow under one arm and a pan of home made cup cakes in her hands. Janice had spent the afternoon making them in preparation for the party.

She smiled enthusiastically at her friend Marla who stood next to her. "You are going to have a blast, Marla," she said. "You'll be glad you decided to get out of your study. Angela is a lot of fun."

Marla had been a little surprised to receive an invitation to this party, to say the least. She didn't really know many people on the ship and was quite content keeping it that way. But when Janice had showed up at her quarters, there was really no way that she could have said no. So, here she was, nightgown and all.

She managed to smile back, although she was a little nervous. "Oh! Yes, I'm sure it will be. Lots of fun..." Marla was trying to remember the last time she went to a sleepover. She was pretty sure she'd never been to one before. That wasn't weird or anything, right? She knocked lightly on the door and then stepped back into line beside Janice.
