I'm curious - what prompted you to re-read something that you'd only given three stars to originally (the first book)?

It is interesting, and it's (so far) the most readable book I've found about the subject. (So much of it is really technical or just Really Not Well Written.)

Ye merciful tentacled gods, I have not managed to get a book post up on anything I have read more recently than January. You inspire me to remedy this situation forthwith, or more likely, Friday evening; for which much thanks.

I didn't like The Explosionist much but maybe you will. I thought the worldbuilding was better than the actual story.

Urg, just read your GoodReads review ... big cliffhanger ending? I might be finished with it where I am. :(

Not a cliffhanger, just - a lot of things are left unresolved and it is obvious there must be more to the story that will be (was? I wasn't interested enough to look for a second book) continued.

#2 sounds fascinating, but I think it would make me too rageful. :(

It was interesting, but definitely frustrating. Sometimes it was so infuriating it was funny? But mostly I just wanted to go back in time and punch everyone in the head. "Aww, you girls want to go to space, how cute! Do you have any recipes to share with our readers?" Arrrrgh.

So, this is a dumb question, but who is that (character) in your icon? I see her around from time to time and I have no clue what it's from.

Not at all!

The character is the goth lab tech Abby Sciuto from NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) and is played by Pauley Perrette.

(Here is another Abby icon!)
