This was one of the poems in the folder the Pet Crematorium gave me and it was so appropriate to our situation. Boo became semi-paralysed in her back legs early Saturday morning so I took her straight to our local vets when they opened. I was so glad that I was with her, stroking her and talking to her (despite the fact that she was deaf) as she was put to sleep.

Sorry! I'm sure Pippy will understand, and hope that if the situation arises you will make the same decision. In some ways it's a very hard decision, but when you only want the best for a loving pet, in some ways it's an easy decision, as you don't want them to suffer. This poem summed it all up just perfectly, she became semi-paralysed Saturday morning, I took her to our local vets when they opened and stayed with her, stroking and talking to her, right until the end.

Pippy understands because I had to put down her older "sister" before. Actually, Estel was more like Pippy's Mom since she helped me raise Pippy. Before those two girls I have had to let go of many kitties and dogs and let them cross that Rainbow Bridge. The only way I am able to let go of each of my furry babies is that I know I WILL see them again in Heaven. They will each be waiting for me and I will love each and everyone of them again. The poem was so purrfect. Thank you for sharing it.

That's so lovely. I know how much you must miss her--she's been a big part of your life for so long.

She really was such a sweet natured and beautiful girl and could never be replaced, this poem summed it up so perfectly. However, it doesn't mean that there isn't room in our hearts for another and Boo's legacy is a safe and happy home for another little rescue girl, Plum, who is black and eleven years old (two things which make it difficult for her to be rehomed), so she has a new home for Christmas and I know Boo will approve!

Oh, that makes me smile SO HARD. It's so tough to find homes for older cats, and I'm so pleased you're giving Plum a good home!

Yes, the Animal Shelters here are always full of mostly black, or black and white cats, many of which are older animals. The pretty colours and youngsters always find homes quickly.
It's not even an insurance issue as although insurance companies won't insure cats over eight normally, animals from places such as Wood Green always come with four weeks free insurance which you can extend to life cover, which is what I did with Boo, and they paid out so much more than I ever paid in!!!
An older cat suits me fine as they tend to be happier hanging around the house and garden, and they're not as destructive as a kitten. On top of that they are house trained too.
