Random web usability question

Do you or anyone you know use "Back to top" links on looooong webpages? I know that long = bad when it comes to the web, but I think it's okay for FAQs. That's exactly what I'm working on now, and one of my coworkers suggested "Back to top" links. My knee-jerk reaction was "Duh. Who uses those?" But then, I'm not the target audience. Fine on a long document like a FAQ, but if a normal page on a non-blog-or-news-type site goes beyond a scroll bar, it's too long.

*Raises hand.* I use "back to top" links in long documents like a FAQ. :) In fact I'm more likely to read the whole thing if I can see that I can hop around the document with a link structure. Such is my attention span and attachment to... mobility.

Same here. So far my unofficial survey results are about 50/50. I'm going to add them to the page. Can't hurt.

I'd use them in a FAQ, but otherwise a long bit of text just makes me surf away! (or use "find")
