Random web usability question

Do you or anyone you know use "Back to top" links on looooong webpages? I know that long = bad when it comes to the web, but I think it's okay for FAQs. That's exactly what I'm working on now, and one of my coworkers suggested "Back to top" links. My knee-jerk reaction was "Duh. Who uses those?" But then, I'm not the target audience. So, what

Use them lots, but only think they belong in things like FAQ's. Elsewhere, I tend to think poor website design.
