I think I believe in two ways to seize the day. One is seizing the day as an opportunity to accomplish tasks, perform, succeed in society by measurable and identifyable contributions. I think those folks find happiness down that path, or what they believe is happiness when they set out at the very least, and that they do well in the business and societal world.
I think the other way to seize the day is to seize the day. The events in it become to some extent irrelevant. If you are watching the day and smiling at it, that is. What you do and do not accomplish in that day becomes secondary to the simplicity of seizing just the day itself. I think this is where I'm growing with the help of Buddhism. The stuff in life, the tasks, the measurable contributions to society - all appear less and less fulfilling to me. Looking around and smiling... that's where I think I want to go or am looking into seeing what its like to go there. I think people on this path find peace. Happiness takes a different meaning, and things just are. I think

I think I agree with you that there are different ways to seize the day. My contention, I suppose, is that one of those ways is ultimately more fulfilling
