reclaiming space

We have lived in this apartment for almost two years now and just renewed our lease (with a transfer clause) for a third year. By this point, our decor has happily moved past "one step above dorm room," especially in the living room. The bedroom is another matter completely. It's a little dangerous, though! Our good friends live like 15 minutes away, and it's like going to Target: you pop over for a little cheap doohickey and walk out with $200 worth of stuff!

I was thinking about this storage method but I worry about the heat causing the spices to lose their potency faster than they would in the cupboard...but the cupboard doesn't have enough room. What do you think? Does the heat actually make any difference?

I have to re-organize the kitchen this week. Ugh.

I thought about it, but I think it's back far enough. Most of the time, I use the front burners (and, as you can tell, I do cook every day). One thing I do wish is that we had a fume hood, but we don't. Oh well. Someday!

I bought one of those ugly three tiered spice things that look like mini stairs so I can keep them in the cupboard. Blah!
