You know, I don’t even really want to discuss any of the stuff that came up last week anymore. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of having my motives questioned, sick of being told I’m lying about them, sick of being told I’m a petty vindictive bitch, sick of being called a hypocrite, sick of being told I equate bad reviews with mean and thus obviously can’ ( Read more... )

I really don't get what all the anger is coming from. I really don't. It isn't like you're personally going to each person and slapping their hand and saying that they can't do it. You're just telling them that if they expect to get published, be careful of what they say ( ... )

I just started Unholy Ghosts last evening and found what I've been missing in my reading diet. Keep it up!

Well,I for one love your blog posts about writing and your thoughts on the industry and the craft. I've always found them clear-eyed, no nonsense, and damned useful. I would miss those posts if you stopped.

I am so very sorry that your honest opinion and attempt to help has caused such a ruckus. I don't understand why and I hope it will stop soon.

Thank you for talking about this. I will miss your insights should you chose to stop writing about writing, but I agree that this response makes doing it not a lot of fun.

I love (and am also saddened) that the very people who are slamming you are, in a way, proving your point.

I loathe that people find it okay to be so freaking rude to others, just because there's a comment thread to do so and they can't really be held accountable for their comments in the Real World(tm). I have the feeling they'd be far more polite and/or contrite if you were sitting in front of them across the table.

This is one of the things about the 'Net that scares the hell out of me: it isn't just an equalizer, it's a place where people can be rude and jerky to people they've never even met.
