I’m sick of having my motives questioned, sick of being told I’m lying about them, sick of being told I’m a petty vindictive bitch, sick of being called a hypocrite, sick of being told I equate bad reviews with mean and thus obviously can’ ( Read more... )

I really don't get what all the anger is coming from. I really don't. It isn't like you're personally going to each person and slapping their hand and saying that they can't do it. You're just telling them that if they expect to get published, be careful of what they say.

In my writing group, we've had a few authors and copy editors and a publisher come and talk to us and they pretty much all say the same thing.

The Publishing biz is actually a very small world. If you say something that isn't very nice or bad mouth something, your name is going to get around and then a lot of doors are going to be closed and a person might find themselves blackballed from more than one place. And when doors start closing, it's going to be a lot harder to publish something when you're a pariah.

Edit: I do thank you for talking about that stuff. The reviewing thing was something new that I hadn't heard of so I need to look at some of the books I reviewed. I'll miss what you do talk about but will understand if you decide not to talk about writer stuff because of all the BS that people feel that they have to fling.
