It was quiet on the bridge. Too quiet, in Bones’s estimation, arms folded tight across his chest, brows hiked down into a frown, lips pressed solidly together. Everyone and their damn mother was staring at him, and he definitely didn’t like it.

“Dammit, stop staring or I’ll stab you all with a measles hypo!”

It would be so much more threatening if it weren’t being shouted through the mouth of a six-year-old. A hand flattened against Uhura’s chest, face relaxing as she let out a soft ‘ahwww,’ eyes squinting and welling up with sappy, motherly glee. No! No, dammit! This was not the response he wanted! He wanted solutions, results… logic!

“Mister Spock!”

Half the crew tittered disgustingly as McCoy-turned-child shoved his hands back out of their too-large sleeves, hiked up his britches, and wheeled to point at the ship’s Science Officer. The fact that both angled eyebrows were raised and the Vulcan looked suspiciously on the verge of laughter did not bode well, and only served to piss Bones off further.

Assuming pureblooded Vulcans' bodies save water on their home planet, they do not have tear ducts and the only time they expel a lot of water is when they're dying. Sarek sees kid Spock cry for the first time and thinks his son is dying. Optional that he caused it.

If I could, this is the story I would write to this awesome prompt:

After everyone returns to Earth, Gaila goes to Spock to say, "hi, how are you now that your lover and my friend is dead" and convinces him to go look at the stars with her and sympathizes with him and tells him about Uhura saying all sorts of lovely things about him. He might not cry, I think, but he would at least be convinced to hug her, I think.

I can't pull it off, but that's what your lovely prompt made me think of.
