This is wonderful. A snapshot of Steve's head during an awful moment, and all he wants is to protect the ones he loves.

I love the emotion in this and the spot-on characterizations. Bravo!

*squees* I'm glad you caught that - because yes, he's had training and he's lost people before, people that he was close to, but it's still a difficult moment and he's not considering himself. He's considering his team.

Wow. This is kindof painfully beautiful. It's wonderfully written, and my heart aches for Steve, keeping everything inside so he can support his team while they fall apart.

Another lovely, powerful, emotional fic, well done.

I thought the characterization was great. I especially liked this bit:

“She already knows what’s important.”

When Danny looks up, Steve shrugs a shoulder.

“What, you don’t remember?”

He takes in the wild, confused look in Danny’s eyes. He looks captive, almost afraid, like someone who’s been running and has been suddenly asked to stand still.

“You tell her all the time.” He continues. “I asked you about it.”

Maybe Danny understands, and maybe he doesn’t, but he’s going to make Steve say it.

“Danno loves her.”

That seems so like Steve, the way he is when Danny's in a bad place, that frank, straightforward and straightfaced way of saying really sweet things. Oh Steve. Oh Danny. Oh boys.

I haven't friended you yet. Oops. I'mma go do that now.

"Oh boys" pretty much sums up this entire show, because, really, really? I cannot even anymore with this show. This show is a beautiful thing of beauty and joy and also beauty.

I think, a lot of the time, Steve really just wants to look out for Danny.

I love how Steve is just there for Danny in this. Steve is just as broken about the little girl's death as the rest of his team but because of his training he is able to keep it inside and just be there instead for them. And he does that beautifully by reminding Danny that Grace already knows what is important, that her Danno loves her. And that's enough. Love it, so sweet.
