... if the Miss California contestant for Miss USA does not believe in the rights of the gays to get married, she has the right to state her opinion. It may not be something that those who do believe in gays getting equal right to marriage want to hear, but it is her opinion and the opinion of over half of the voting people in this state

My beef with her was not so much her opinion, even if I disagree. As you said, she has the right to voice that. I just found the way she put it funny. I mean seriously, we have the right to choose "same" or "opposite" marriage? Not in most states, and certainly not in Ca. It was just silly.

I didn't hear the speech, but I support free speech regardless of my personal take on someone's opinion.

I may think they are an asshat, but they can talk about it all they want on my watch!

Mmm. I'm so entirely sure that Perez Hilton calling her bad names has caused her to reconsider her convictions, yes? :-P

Seems like the only speech that is protected these days is PC-speak.
