Tudor shirt!

Woot! There is a shirt from the Henrician period in full array in the PoF4 book!! It is one of the images I had seen before, but I would not have guessed to its simple design. I so have to try it sometime.

Shirts are dead easy - totally rectangular. Which is kewl, because you can go to town on the needlework!

Forgot to add that it is mostly rectangular, with some interesting shaping at the shoulder/arm/underarm gusset area.

Ah, the one with the "faked" underarm gusset? I'd seen pics of that a million times and never noticed. I haven't a clue why it's cut that way, I really can't see any advantage....
The only thing that comes to mind is to use the full width of fabric for MOST of the garment, and make it narrower across the shoulders? Hmmm...
The next one is way more my "style". I was totally thrilled to see that I'd guessed "right" from a few photos!

I don't know the advantage, but I want to learn what makes it feel different, if it does.

And I like the look of the second one, too. I just love this book!
