Well, the second mockup went very nicely and quickly, tho I am wondering the best order to sew parts of it, as I don't like the way I did the mockup. And I think I want to make one by hand, just because. ( Thoughts and pics under the fold )
I am trying this as a test to see what works, and if this alternate style is plausible. It is also my thought that the later French hood is directly related to the AoB hood, and I will talk about that later, once I've done a bit more fiddling and photo taking.
That is SO COOL! (spoken like Dash from Incredibles ;-) )
It clearly shows the pleated gold edging associated with the coif!! :-D It seemed logical, but that's a clearer association then I expected to find! :-) OK not quite what you were talking about, but I'm easily distracted.... :-S
I look forward to seeing the rest of your experiments :-D
Hehehe. I think I was the one who went in and added your info to the wiki article, about a year ago. My site had been referenced there for a long time, but last year I got a bee in my bonnet to update it with more info, so I went in and cleaned up the text, added the bit about definitions, and put your link in there. At least I'm pretty sure I put your link in... I think it only used to reference my site and Drea's, and since both are out of date, I put yours in because it has more current info and better source material. :)

Do you think the second color that's close to the head in the paintings is a colored coif, or is there another layer - in your opinion?

So, this shows clearly that coifs can be a color other than white.
Also it could be similar to the paste that you see near the bottom here on Sarah's plausible French hood.
