Dishwasher issues

It looks like we will be supporting our local stores, as our dishwasher has a problem. It really is a minor problem, the cooling fan on top of the motor has died. But, it is made of plastic, and it cannot be replaced by itself. It has to be replaced as part of the whole motor unit, which after installation costs, would be almost as much as a new ( Read more... )

The only caveat to a basic machine is: look at the EnergyGuide sticker. Compare up-front cost to total cost of ownership. If a basic machine is $100 less than a fancier one but uses $25/year more in energy then in 4 years it will have paid for itself. And presumably the better ones will last longer.

we bought a GE quiet power 3 a couple months ago. It's working well. A base model and I think all toll with warentee was less than $600 a Lowes

I am more inclined to a Whirlpool myself, but that's because it would match the rest of our current appliances.
