You have twelve areas. One day on each would allow you to take one day off every week and give you one day per room every two weeks. Simply a thought, as I have no idea of the practicality.
I may try that, although I am trying to spend enough time in each room to feel I've done something. Like in Cam's room today, it looked like I did something when I was done. Some areas will take more than a day, so I figured at least two days will work, and still get most of the house done in a month. And there are some places where I just need to clean, not declutter so much.
I also think that once I get some of the stuff I am not using out of here, then things might be easier to keep clean. It will be the living room with the pile of toys that will continue to frustrate me on a daily basis.
I tried what you called Mt Vernonizing, but it doesn't work so well for me. I get stuck in the playroom every time, and the kitchen calls for a lot of work, so much it seems overwhelming sometimes, and I get bored, so I drop cleaning all together for a bit. I need to find something that I can stick with, and that works for me.
With my two little ones, only one of which can actually do much picking up, the rooms get trashed very quickly... so it is a constant battle that is wearing me thin.
