Writing and real life

An interesting weekend at our house. On Saturday, hubby and were sitting in the living room when he jumped up and ... well, I wouldn't call it a shriek, exactly. More of an irritated scream? Hmm. Anyway, I asked him what was going on, and he said, "Either I just saw a gigantic bug or we have a mouse."

Eek! )

writing, rl, birthday greetings

When we lived in rural Minnesota in our 100+ year old house, we caught several mice each year. So I can sympathize. The funniest time was when we had people from church over for dinner. I had just pulled a roast out of the oven and was carving it on the stovetop when a mouse ran along the wall right past my foot! I screamed before I could stop myself... and then of course had to explain to everyone what the problem was. Fortunately, they were from rural Minnesota living in old homes as well...

Thanks, btw, for your birthday wishes. :)

Oh, dear! Well, at least they were all familiar with the little buggers. LOL

We're not in rural Minnesota (suburb) and our house is only 30 years old, but ewwwwwwwww. Thankfully all I had to do was hold open the plastic bag. *shudders* That was about all I could handle! LOL

Ooo! I have an icon for you, btw. *goes to look for it* This could take a bit. LOL

Hooray for conquering heroes! I would have shat myself if I'd seen a mouse in the house. Church? Fine, but not house.

I know! If it were just me, I would have called an exterminator. ROTFL Ugh. They're cute in a weird way, but ... *shudders* No, no, no. Did you know they can climb stairs? They can. We watched it do it -- just before hubby ... erm ... took care of it. *shudders again*

I know!! I'm so excited!!! *bounces*

Mice. OK in their place, but their place is not anywhere I live. Hurray for Mr Horrible!

It is! *squees* I actually have the prologue and the first two chapters up on LJ under f-lock.

I'm in the process of editing them (again), but that's mostly punctuation/grammar sorts of things. Oh, and some little character issues with Hermione that I want to tweak a bit. ;)

Oh boy, the local wildlife... I had a few solid run-ins back when I used to spend summers at my grandma's, back home. It was an old farmhouse in the country, and on certain nights, if the whole house was really quiet (and in the country, in the dead of night, everything was quiet), you could hear mice scurrying about in the attic. On occasion, I was tempted to sleep sitting up, to enable ease of bolting should the worst happen.

Brr.

Wheeee! Inspiration renewed! That's excellent news; go you. *smooches*

Oh yes! And I tell you, when I saw how it could scurry up the stairs ... I didn't sleep too well that night! LOL
