I would happily send you my zolpidem CR, it doesn't keep me asleep for nearly as long as I feel I'd like to be, yet still manages to leave me zombified for the rest of the next day. (Though you're utterly right about the non-CR version. If I didn't get to sleep during that little window I was stuffed for the rest of the night. And again, still zombified - ataxic, dysphasic, unable to focus on even slightly complex tasks - for most of the next day. Grrr.) But I think both our countries frown on the international postage of restricted substances.
Sadly, you're probably correct in that. Even though I'm sure we both have valid prescriptions for it. I know I do, at least.
I agree that it doesn't keep me asleep as long as I'd like it to, but if I have my CPAP, that's not an issue, given that it cuts down my sleep requirement to about 5 hours.
We don't have the generic version in the CR over here in the States. I imagine that's a bunch of bureaucratic red tape which is entirely ineffective in its intended and stated purpose, as well. Kind of like HIPPA. What a crap piece of legislation that one is. It just makes everyone's lives harder (patient and medical staff), and offers no actual increase in protection of one's personal/medical information.
If it makes you feel any better our vaunted Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme doesn't cover either version of the Stilnox (what Ambien's called over here), so I have to pay full price for it too. Which usually means yet another fortnight where my cats eat better than I do.
What exactly is HIPAA? I see it mentioned a lot in fora that I'm on, and I gather it's something to do with patient confidentiality, but I've never been able to get a clear handle on *what* exactly it states.
Sadly my sleep issues are more to do with the chronic fatigue element of whatever's wrong with me than any apnea, so a CPAP won't improve things for me. Which sucks rocks, IMO.
HIPPA = Health Information Privacy & Protection Act
It's a crap piece of legislation which has the stated purpose of protecting our private healthcare information (duh), but which actually just makes it harder to get medical care, and creates a lot of extra paperwork and expense, both directly and tangentially.
