[Hana had wandered into the arboretum, trying to clear her mind. As much as she wanted to delve into those books and see what she could come up with, she was still shaken up by what happened. As well, her hand kept coming back to her now-cropped hair, signifying how close she came to dying out there.

She stops briefly as she spots Sora nearby.]

I should be the one asking you that, Hana. I think I stopped breathing for a second out there.

[Sora tentatively reaches for Hana's head, partly to reassure herself it's still there, and partly to examine her new hairdo.]

...this doesn't look half bad, you know. I just wish it hadn't happened in the first place.

Dita, huh? That'd be the best person, I agree. What are you thinking? I mean, your hair being shorter is already a pretty big change for you, but... [Sora is quiet for a moment, apparently considering options. There's a combination of a faint blush and a slight grin; apparently whatever she's thinking is... actually, you probably don't want to know.]

Well, I help out here, at least. Hana's grandmother, Professor Himesaki, is a somewhat prominent botanist, plus she supervises Fairy Park, so...

I need other options while I'm flying Itsuki. Hana came up with that Bowcaster, and she's got guns all over the place on Tsubomi. I don't have anything except the weapons and abilities I started with... and that's hurt me a few times now. It'd help on foot too, I guess, but mostly I want new things to do while I'm in a mecha.

[There's a version of the Itsuki Tambourine sized for use by Sora sitting next to her; she glances at it thoughtfully.] And knowing me, the answer probably involves shields somehow.

We have a lot of hand-held equipment for Mobile Suits. I don't think anyone will care if you take that stuff and MacGyver something out of it. Although that'd need help from someone else, not me. Engineering is not my specialty.

...Or maybe you don't really need a new weapon, just have to use what you already have in new ways.

That's not a bad idea, but... at the end of the day, I AM still a magical girl that pilots a robot that runs on magic. And I have a few ideas, I just need to test them. Like one of my personal favorites...

[Sora holds out a hand in front of her and generates a sunflower shield in front of her, only about as big as her torso.]

Punch this. I'm gonna stand behind you, in case this works as well as the design mockup said it would. My shields should react to physical damage now, instead of just projectiles, and throw the force back.
