[Aidan had never been to the brig before. He wasn't even aware it was occupied, part of him wondered why there even was a brig. When he found Devon he looked at her with a blank but scrutinizing expression. It was the same expression he gave everybody when he first saw them, but Devon might not be aware of that.]

[Devon vaguely recognizes the person she had a discussion with - once. Having strangers observe you is one thing, but people you recognize...]

That is exactly what happened.

I take only as much as I need, which is less than the daily ration. This means the rationing is unnecessary - following it is meaningless. To adhere to it is to adhere to rules for the rules' sake.
