This story has really reeled my in. I love the plot and the execution of it.
And there are so many small and not so small details I just adore. Like the thing with Sherlock thinking about what he would do were Mycroft to be killed.
And the last sentence in this chapter.

Thank you so very much! I am so pleased that you like the fic and that it is keeping your interests engaged. I have never undertaken a story of a similar length and was worried that the plot would stagnate (especially as I agonize over every scene unsure if is moving the plot along). Knowing that the small details are appreciated just makes me feel incredibly warm and fuzzy inside. :)

Aww, thank you so much! I am so glad that you are enjoying my writing style (it has been so long and I am a bit rusty!). I promise more out soonish (probably in the next week or two).

I like the way you've portrayed Sherlock's reactions here.
  • The bit about Sherlock finding the smell of chlorine triggery after the events at the pool is a very nice touch, as is his feeling that he really doesn't have the coping skills for dealing with John's PTSD.
  • The snarky little text message defining 'immediately' for Lestrade.
  • The funeral - the fact that he manages to rationalize wanting the victims' families to know what really happened. Pure logic and no empathy - sure, Sherlock. That rings true for him. I like the touch that he plans to completely erase his thoughts of what he would do if Mycroft were murdered rather than admit that he ever thought of avenging his big brother. :)

John's gallows humor at the end rings true. I also like John managing to string Sherlock along at the beginning of the story - very nice. :)

Nitpick:
You sometimes use 'deduct' when I suspect you meant to say 'deduce'.

Thank you so much for your review! I am so happy to hear that you liked the portrayal of Sherlock! I was starting to doubt my choice of writing from his POV about 1/3 into Part 1 as I worry if I am doing him any justice!
Thank you again!

Also, I will be posting a revised version of this part with "deduct" and "deduced" fixed. Thank you for pointing that out!

I'll admit that I laughed at the story of the headless moving corpse. But I have watched way too much Monty Python and Blackadder.

Poor Hendricks.

LOL! I realized after the fact that the Hendricks story was not too horrifying, but I held onto a futile hope that watching it happen and still finding it funny might be a bit weird?

Likely, I have underestimated the gore inflicted on our day to day lives. Damn you Monty Python for creating "How Not To Be Seen" and then making me love it!
