I saved a frog's life in Switzerland. It was in the road, so I shunted it over to the pavement where it got stuck, and then picked it up and put it in the grass.
heh, I thought about this while in the shower today. I know you meant it as a joke :)
But my thoughts from the shower:
At least if you get raped, there's a chance that you might rebuild your life and possibly even grow from the experience.
Shark finning is pretty much murder with an extra squeeze of cruelty. It's like someone cutting off your arms and legs and leaving you in the middle of a remote forest where nothing will help you get by...or I suppose throwing you in the ocean like that is nearly the same thing.
But not if you're raped and killed, but that's beside the point.
There's an inordinate amount of cruelty in general. You brought my mind back to Abu Grahib, and that I just know (intuition?) that what makes that place special is that the public found out, not so much the torture.
Heh, I thought about that, and left it at "not all rapists are murderers."
General cruelty does not make it seem better. I know Abu Ghraib is only special because public recognition...to know that it goes--what seems infinitely--beyond that just kills me. I'm pretty convinced that this is something I won't get desensitized to.

It's okay. We've still got murderers and rapists to fall back on.
