Have any of you ever tried to vacuum seal your out-of-season clothes, linens, or other household fabrics? It seems like such a cool space-saving idea, but I can't picture this working, especially not with our vacuum.

We use a ShopVac to do it. It worked, however, it was a pain when we got a week of out of season weather.

Yeah, I don't think a regular vacuum could really do it. Was it a fast process, though? Like, you just insert the hose and, in a few minutes, perfectly flat clothes?

My parents bought some of those when they were here visiting one time because they bought a lot of stuff and wanted to try to get it into their suitcases better. Surprisingly they worked! Maybe not as well as I imagined, but somehow I imagined they would wind up postage size so my expectations may have been a little high. ;-)

Haha, well, I'm imagining the way they turn out on those old infomercials so you and I might have similar expectations. :)

What did you do when it was time to come home? I almost tried that once, until my mom mentioned that most hotels don't have vaccuums.

I was living with a family, and my host mom had it.

I had actually bought some that are meant for travelling, which you "roll" then I bought the vacuum ones in France.

this is one of those things i'd think is a great idea until it was time to actually use it, then it'd sit in the closet under a bunch of crap until i end up giving it away and/or selling it dirt cheap on ebay.
