Ashe wasn't stupid. She knew something was wrong. While she tried not to play favorites with those of her House, she couldn't help but want to smooth over whatever problems arose within it. In some ways, she could relate to Roxas and so she wanted to see what could be done for him.

"Why don't we take a walk?" she asked kindly, softly, as she gazed down at him. As far as she was concerned, he had done nothing to get in trouble for. She hadn't heard the shouts after all for once. "A little air would do me good I think."

"Sure," Roxas said with a confused look. He stood up, pushing himself up from the floor with one arm.

He waited to see where she planned to lead him, or at least for her to speak. He wasn't about to start a conversation...he'd probably end up talking about Axel...

One of the reasons for the walk was to give Roxas a feeling of security in motion. Another was so no one could stop and oggle them on the way out of dinner. The professor glanced over at the boy as he stood before heading for one of the secret passageways back to Gryffindor Tower. No one needed to overhear. Ashe could not abide by eavesdroppers on a normal day.

"Are you sure you're all right?" she asked, not letting Roxas' lack of conversation deter her yet. Reaching into one sleeve, she pulled out a handkerchief and offered it to him without looking.

She knew what it felt like to be caught crying when you didn't want to be.

Roxas looked at Professor Ashe.

"I'm fine...just...confused." He refused the handkerchief. He didn't need it for now. "Usually I don't get that emotional about Axel...but for some reason he got to me worse tonight, and I just...couldn't leave like I always used to."

With just the right amount of alcohol and delicious food inside of him, Spike felt it was time he left the Great Hall festivities. Tomorrow would be a long day of paper work and teaching, so maybe it was time he hit the sack. But before that, he needed to find a place to step out and have one last smoke before bed. Walking the long hallways was like a small scale adventure, especially when you haven't been inside a place in years. Just as he neared the end of one corridor, he heard talking. It sounded like a woman and a young man. Now, it's none of Spike's business, and he hates to be a snoop, but -- hell, curiosity killed the cat, right? Right? "Ha, that would be how I would die someday," he thought as he walked towards the noise. "Going to check out some strange noise I know I probably shouldn't, turn a corner and get drilled. Hahaha!" Yeah, maybe a tad too much to drink ( ... )

Seifer, throwing open doors and b-lining for the rest rooms in hopes of avoiding any more of the same old show in the Great Hall, walks by Professor Ashe and Roxas. After an awkward exchange of stares, Seifer dismisses them with a simple "puh" and struts downward with his jackboots echoing in the arches.

Ashe was glad Roxas had actually decided to open up for her instead of trying to shove her off and insist that he was okay. She pushed aside a tapestry and motioned for Roxas to head up the stairs in front of her. She was ignoring the student who had walked past them and anyone else who might be in the hallway behind or around them.

"Sometimes.. when we are apart from someone for some time, even as short as a few months or a week.. it takes time to get familiar again." She knew this from experience... and her voice betrayed that for a moment as she let the tapestry fall behind them.

"I don't think that's what's wrong..." Really, Roxas had never been familiar with Axel, so...that wasn't really what he thought this was.

He was too caught up in all his own thoughts to catch on to the hint of emotion in Ashe's voice.

Spike watched another student walk by Ashe and the Gryffindor student. The new student was walking in shoes that made a great deal of noise, and made some sort of audible guttural noise of displeasure as he walked by them. Lady Ashe appeared slightly annoyed by this, at least to Spike.

"Maybe it's for the best that I just leave for now," he thought out loud quietly. Inside his head, he continued, "She probably would just find it odd that you wanted to talk to her and-- wait... Why do I want to talk to her? She didn't really seem that interested at the Feast... then again, with Howl sitting right there silently mocking me who knows. Eh, I'll leave for now. Go get some sleep. There's a whole school year to get to know her."

Spike quietly turned and walked away from the corridor, vanishing into the shadows.
