Jaina rolled her shoulders absently, a hand going to scratch the back of her neck as she entered the empty classroom, eyes immediately zeroing on Rinoa and the potions book she wasn't reading.

She gave a wane grin, reshouldering her bag containing all of her notes and potions ingredients. Jaina wasn't exactly close with Rinoa, but she seemed open minded enough, and, more importantly, she was the one to ask for help.

The older girl walked towards the table she was sitting at, raising an eyebrow when she got a closer look at the cover, "Interesting approach."

Rinoa turned a page and continued to read her book, titled Romancing the Philosopher's Stone by the way, and only paused when she heard Jaina's voice. "Oh!" Rinoa closed the book quickly like she was caught doing something very bad, and smiled innocently as she tucked it back into her bag. Once the fiction novel was put away, she pulled the book she would need for this tutoring lesson closer to her with one hand and gestured to the snacks she brought with her other hand. "I wasn't sure if you've had Ginger Newts before... but I think they're tasty."

She pulled out a worn tome: Bubbling Basic Brews: Beginning with the Best. The copy was almost falling apart, with several pages dog-eared and holding several notes in a cramped, messy handwriting in the margins. Jaina had had it since third year.

"The potions in these are easy, and you shouldn't have any problems with them," she stated, opening to a simple Calming Draught, "But I figured the best way to start tutoring you is to see how you work first."

Without another word, Jaina slid the opened text in front of Rinoa.

When the book was opened up in front of her, Rinoa immediately reached down to pull it closer and read the pages. She knew this potion, and thought back for a few moments to remember how well she had made it before. She couldn't recall it being a disaster or not, so at least she knew it wasn't one that she was horrible with ( ... )
