WHO: Thomas Raith and whomever walks by (open) LOCATION: His office WEEK: 59 TIME: Afternoon, after classes WHAT: Thomas is grading papers. Well, that's his story, at least. RATING: PG
Castiel was walking down the hall with an armload of books he really should be returning to the library sooner rather than later when he heard singing coming from an office. He paused to listen, the lyrics making him smile in spite of himself. He adjusted the stack of books in his hand and knocked on the office door. "Hi," he started, "I couldn't help overhearing you singing. It's a nice song."
Thomas cut off in mid hum, looking up with a smile. "Oh, hello. I'd say sorry, but if you liked it, I shouldn't apologize." He pushed to his feet. "Something I picked up while in London."
Castiel nodded in agreement. There wasn't anything to be sorry for. He spent so much time in the library that he had to admit he was sorely out of touch with what was going on in the muggle world. Perhaps it was time to visit his mother again and see how she was doing.
"What song was it? I'm afraid I haven't spent much time away from here in quite a while."
He managed a sheepish laugh. "Some silly pop song. 'Haven't Met You Yet' or something like that." Thomas shook his head. "It's fairly recent to the radio, though."
Potions was far from Harry's favorite class, indeed one could accurately surmise that he loathed it with all his being. This loathing might stem from the fact that the professor was exactly the sort of sadistic blood purist asshole who Justin would have gotten along swimmingly with, but who could really say. Still, for all that he hated the class, Harry had no intention of giving the smug bastard teaching it the satisfaction of seeing him fail, which was why he had been doing extra work with Bob on the side. Pervert the skull might be, but he knew more about potions than anyone in the world
( ... )
"And someday I know, it'll all turn--hmm?" Thomas cut off in the middle of the song, raising his head to blink at the interruption. Of course, the blue-grey eyes went perfectly with the rest of the look. "Oh. Hello there. And no, sorry. Never found a muggle radio that worked well in wizarding areas." He grimaced at that. "Too bad. I'm finding I miss the BBC."
Suddenly Harry was very aware that he needed a haircut and to hit the gym.
Stepping into the room, Harry gave a shrug. "Yeah, I haven't been able to either. I miss being able to listen to songs from something that doesn't give me commentary on my taste in music."
Which got a laugh. "Oh yeah. Wizarding wireless can be slightly annoying. I think I ended up returning my last one to the store. The voice was grating and it basically hated my favorite stations." It really wasn't worth the hassle at the end of the day.
