Hatori and Tsunade; no you can't read my p-p-pokerface [OPEN]no_sevensApril 23 2010, 19:17:32 UTC
Tsunade scowled deeply at the card in her hand.
Three of spades.
Her eyes drifted to the cards arranged into a game of solitaire on the table.
She needed.
A red three.
In a short show of temper she threw the card down on the table and started shuffling again. Tsunade hated solitaire, and she continued to hate it as she sipped on her sake, looking around the room.
Hatori turned when he heard Tsunade's voice, giving her a blank look at her demanded request. Poker? "You know my name, Senju." Unsurprisingly enough, he did happen to be in a suit, but it was a rare occasion when he wasn't. If it wasn't the pristine suit, it was the pristine lab coat. That said a lot about his life, or lack thereof.
However, despite the interesting way the woman posed her request, Hatori still made his way over to the table she was at and sat down. "I can play a hand if you're really that bored." Had it been said in any other way by any other person, it could have been taken that he was deigning Tsunade to be allowed in his presence.
His flat way of saying it held no meaning.
After all, Hatori had an excellent poker face when not even playing the game.

"Someone say poker?"
Han hadn't done much gambling since his children had been born. Come to think of it, maybe not even since before he'd gotten mixed up with Leia and her brother. And he used to thoroughly enjoy poker, even if it did usually land him in debt somehow. Which didn't exactly bother him. After all, he had the faster plane on the damn planet. It wasn't like the people to whom he owed money could ever actually catch up with him.
Of course, on reevaluation, he realized this might not exactly turn into one of the poker games he was used to participating in. Neither Hatori nor Tsunade seemed like the exciting type. But Han had come too far to back down, so he dropped into the chair next to Hatori, tipping it back to rest on two legs.

Tsunade shuffled the deck, casting a smirk at Hatori. It wasn't that she didn't like or respect the Nurse, her inital rudeness nonwithstanding considering the first time they had met she was trying to deal with a collapsing library.
"Suit, Sohma," she said in a tone that mimicked tomato, tomatto, going to deal him a hand when-
Great. Solo. The new Muggle Studies professor was already grating her, what with his flippant replies to her request for volunteers. However, she ignored her misgivings in favor of giving him a critical eye.

[Edea stands by the entrance to the Staff Lounge, very smiley and happy to be there. She introduces herself to each person who enters, and is super gracious and nice.]
[Leia is all for the socialising, and also for the making sure her husband doesn't shoot anything. She walks into the room, but spots Edea before she see Han]
Edea! [HERE GIRLFRIEND, HAVE A HUG] It's wonderful to see you in person again.
It was simply easier to walk around and navigate when you were walking upside down on the ceiling. It was also interesting to walk by and get the tail end of a conversation here or there. Bit of flirting here, bit of somewhat secretive information there, a lot of small talk everywhere else. Xigbar was only noticed when he wanted to be noticed, that’s just how he was. He could be there for hours beforehand but, if he didn’t want anyone to notice him, then no one ever did. Eavesdropping was a hobby and, as the party started, he sat back and listened to names, ages, their positions, collecting information.
The sniper did plan on showing up to the party itself to do some mingling of his own but, it would only be after he got a snack. Another benefit of being the only one to walk on a high ceiling. No navigating through them to get to the grub. So, he just let gravity take its course and dropped down stand right in front of the snack table.
[Alyss is... strangely at peace within the party setting, but mostly because this is what she did as a teenager, growing up with the Liddells. They were societal people after all.
She's just going to chill by the food, nibbling some pastry all quietly. She's still tired from her earlier training.]
[The youngest Winchester slides over a bit less smoothly than he imagines in his mind, making the excuse for his sudden appearance by grabbing a bit of hors d'oeuvres. He glances at his target, who is nibbling on -- something sweet.
How incriminating.]
So, [Casual. Oh so casual.] How do you like the pastries?

"Hey, you in the suit. Play a game of poker?"
It didn't really sound like a request.

"Depends. How much money you have on you?"

It's been awhile. I'm glad it's under more pleasant circumstances this time. Is Han not here yet? I'd like to say hello to him as well.

You and I both. I think...[she looks around] he's about somewhere. There's food and alcohol here, after all.

Smiles.] Evening, Sir Winchester. They are... Quite delicious, actually. You should try one.

[Smooth pause.] Oh, I don't know, the pastries look a bit... rich to me. Sometimes I don't like things that are too sweet. What about you?
