Riza steeled herself in the freezing wind, not letting on just how cold she was apart from a slight irritation at the snowflakes stinging her face. She'd melted some snow to create a circular area around the middle of the quidditch pitch and a clear path leading to it. It was annoying, but she wouldn't postpone her class because of the heavy snow. Students would just have to accomodate it
( ... )
Lizzie, who's parents had both been very good fliers, was off in a flash. Not wanting to be up in the cold air for long, she did the laps very quickly, keeping her head down. She was by no means the fastest of her class, but she was right behind them when they hand landed. If anyone had seen her fly several time it could be noted that she held back, a characteristic she showed in all of her classes. However, Lizzie just seemed to be happy to be on the ground again, stuffing her hands into the fur puff she had brought. "All done, professor."
Toph hated Physical Education. All it was was flying lessons for the crazy people. Because of her condition, she either sat around and did nothing, or was forced to run laps around the Quidditch field.
It looked like she'd be doing nothing again, as the professor seemed to forget her presence. To pass the time, she decided to make snow balls and chuck them randomly in the air to see if she could hit anyone. It would give her peers good dodging practice anyway. It didn't seem she hit anyone on this round, and she let up as she felt people land back on the ground. Maybe she could hit the professor next time they took off. The satisfaction of doing so would be worth the detention that would follow.
"Tophy!" Lizzie called out to her classmate, going over to her since the others were landing at the moment. "how are you doing~?" The hyper girl was always happy, and even this cold wasn't going to take that away. However, standing in one place couldn't be fun. "You should ask if you can go inside."

"Good afternoon, class" Riza began as soon as all the students had assembled. "Today you will complete this obstacle course. You cannot continue to the next station until you have completed your current one" she gestured to the ring around them which she had cleared of snow and set up about eight stations with different tasks involving magic and physical skills.
One station involved balancing on a moving platform leviating about Riza's waist height and levitating Quaffles into bins; another climbing up ropes which turned slippery when one touched them; and another involving dodging insistent hexed chairs while trying to knock the cushions down with spells.
"I suggest you team up into groups of two or three. Each team starts at a different obstacle." She finished, and gestured for the students to group together and get started.
OOC: feel free to make up other obstacle courses but keep them the same level of difficulty and minimal-ish risk as the ones mentioned :)
Finally something worth while. Azula loved a good challenge and this was right up her alley.
Against her better judgment, she moved towards the idiot under the chairs. "You, you're in my group," she commanded. As much as she would have loved to find those more worth while it was clear no one else was going to invite him into their group.

At one end of the Quidditch pitch, a row of wooden targets floated in a neat line, with more targets positioned behind them, getting further away. Riza turned to the class, her expression demanding silence. She cast a blasting spell at one of the targets, hitting it squarely in the middle. Her knowledge of firearms through the years had definitely helped her targeting.
"Spells lose their accuracy the longer the distance is to the target. Today, you'll be practicing to refine this accuracy and cast more effective spells from a further distance. Choose a target and begin with a simple spell."
There was only one thing Link would like to change about this exercise to make it better for himself. He wished he could have brought his archery equipment and practiced with that. Spells would have to do though, so he hurried to pick a target and started firing some spells at it.
Although using a wand and a bow and arrows were completely different, Link knew that his practice with the latter helped him with targeting, and he knew he could hit targets better than a lot of the students in class. He couldn't help but feel a little cocky after he kept hitting the bulls eye.

Riza quickly packed up the last of the equipment used for the lesson into a chest and started dragging it towards the storage area near the changing rooms. She shivered and rubbed her hands together for warmth. The cold was starting to get to her now, and she was fairly certain she couldn't feel her face. A pot of steaming tea in her warm office seemed like the most rewarding thing at the moment.

Tracking down Riza Hawkeye for a date had been proving to be far more challenging than most women. At least in the past when he chased after a fellow Professor he was not forced go go tracking her down in the snow in little more than a flimsy jacket perched on his shoulders. Yes, it was silly, but Howl Pendragon had an image to keep, even if it meant freezing.
After a week of waiting for the perfect moment, he decided that there was no better one than after her class. Surely, no stupid was dumb enough to stick around in the freezing cold to take to the professor. And he was right. Trudging through the snow and ignoring the goosebumps, he made straight for Riza.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Hawkeye," he called out to her, what he hoped was the most charming of smiles for one as cold as himself plastered on his face.
Riza suppressed a grimace as an all too familiar voice called out to her. Her sharp eyes found the flamboyant man coming towards her, smiling stupidly. He wasn't dressed suitably for the cold but then she couldn't say she was surprised. Riza wasn't one to be rude so returned a smile of her own. "Afternoon, Professor Jenkins" she greeted politely, cursing herself for having forgotten about his invitation. Had it come around already? She'd thought she had plenty of time. It looked like she wouldn't be getting her cup of tea now, or see Hayate who'd been cooped up in her office all day and she was disappointed at the thought.
However, she did say she would make the effort to get to know Howl better and Riza didn't go back on her word. "Cold isn't it?" she commented and a her breath came out in clouds. She was still dragging the chest towards the storage room. She wuld wait for Howl to mention their appointment (because it was certainly not a date, she'd made sure of that).
"Quite," he replied airily. Oh, it may have been cold, but he wasn't going to let it get to him that much. However, even he could not keep from shivering, the flimsy jacket shaking from it's sight. But all the same, he smiled on. "I was wondering if you might accompany me to The Three Broomsticks this afternoon?" See, the trick was the Three Broomsticks was hardly farther than the castle from here.
