"I doubt that the two of you will find anything of interest here. But." He paused, a smirk playing on his lips as he set the guitar down beside the desk. He stood, making a quick motion with his hand to the expanse collection of text shelved behind him. They were not there because Daryan loved to read, oh no. They were there because Daryan thought it made him look a bit more professional, .. &they hadn't another home. Some of them, however; did, in fact, belong to him. He had attended Hogwarts after all. Mystery & Crime novels were among the ones that populated most of the top shelf. Older textbooks followed suite. Beneath that was a very varied group of novels ( both fiction and non ) and of course, more textbooks. That particular batch was not his per say, but his mother and father's. Now, unfortunately, they belonged to him. "Both of you are more than welcome to look

"Mm. I know, Edward. I am well aware of your academic achievements." He replied with a smirk, taking a seat on the edge of the desk. "I do, after all, have access to that sort of information." He folded his arms, waiting in silence, as Edward thumbed through his text book. He would give him a couple of minutes, and only a couple of minutes. He was here, with his brother, for a reason, and there was no sense in delaying the inevitable forever.
Edward was in the middle of reading an older use for wormwood, so he ignored Daryan for a moment as he turned the page to finish the paragraph.
"Books. Al said you had some."
His eyes never left the page and his tone was somewhat soft and distant as he was sufficiently distracted. In some ways however, distracted as he was, he seemed more pliable.
Al looked away from Daryan guiltily when Ed said what they were there for. Or what Ed thought they were there for, more accurately. If he'd told Ed the truth they wouldn't be here.
"Enough was finally enough, Daryan mused; watching as the younger brother squirmed around in his seat uncomfortably. It was finally time to end this charade. "Books." Daryan echoed, walking up to Edward as he smiled wanly. "I am sure the library would be much better for books, Edward. They have a very diverse collection there." He paused, looking to Alphonse before he continued. "I can assure you that you were not invited here to browse my books. Are you aware of my job here at Hogwarts, Edward, ..?"
"Mm. Your brother is right, Edward. I am not a teacher. In fact- I am the Counselor here at Hogwarts." He paused, letting it sink in. If Edward was half as smart as he claimed to be, then he would realize what this meant.
He wasn't looking at Ed. "I just thought... you don't have to go after this if you don't want to, but I figured with everything, it might not be a bad idea. Since you won't talk to me about anything."

He blinked at Daryan. "You're a teacher? I don't know, I don't take your class. I take stuff like Arithmancy and Astronomy and Potions."

The word reverberated in his brain a moment and he dropped the book he'd been reading. Edward turned ever so slowly towards Alphonse.
"What. The. Fuck?" He asked, his voice low and furious. An explosion was imminent.

He was going to die.
