Catty mentally facepalmed, wondering how she could feel so irritated by anything that Jaina said now. She should have been used to Jaina's brand of snark. Maybe it was the whole school-wide issue of Professor Rangiku tugging her down. She managed her trademark cat grin, tossing it casually to Lucy. "I'm not freaking out, and of cours we're here for fun. Nobody parties better than a Hogwarts student, right?"

Catty poked Harry back, her brown eyes lighting up at the wink. She leaned back, resting her elbow on his shoulder, her chin in her palm. "Oh, I would love to see how this will work out, our elders losing maturity points." She giggled softly, hoping that things would become more entertaining.

“Hmm, but those three qualities work great together. Like a trinity of disfunction.” Ren remarked calmly, “Like your little dorm down here in the dungeons. We all know who the psycho is, Jaina has occasionally proven to be pretty crippled when it comes to emotions and, although I wouldn’t call you a moron, the egotistical part is spot on. Put it all together and you get one happy little family.”

Turning his gaze over to Harry, Ren grasped the offered hand in a simple shake, “Ren Honjo.” Glancing over at the two girls present at the time he shrugged with a small smile, “And I don’t know, I’m pretty happy with the numbers right now."

"Yeah, we have some real talent around Hogwarts," she replied sarcastically, brushing her hair out of her face. Why did she come back here again?

Lucy's eyebrow arched a little bit. Right. She was having trouble remembering if she'd had a strong urge to deck Ren before she left, but it was certainly a tempting prospect right now. Jackass. Instead she smiled, lips twisting in a slight smirk. Maybe he was funny enough to be likable. "Isn't an ego if it's deserved," she said easily.

[OOC: Sorry for the slow, awesomepeople, I wasn't sure if we skipped Jaina or something D: /sob]

Harry had guessed the poke was coming, and so managed to suppress his normal urge to flinch whenever someone touched him, though he did tense slightly. He didn't need people wondering why he was freaking out over some playful banter.

"We should have brought popcorn. I'd say a video camera to, but they don't work here, and we wouldn't want our elders testing out their advanced curses on us," Harry replied, again his grin tightening slightly when he felt her elbow on his shoulder. Still, he knew he had to get over this, and so instead he chose to let it stay. If anything, it felt kind of...nice.

Things seemed to be a bit tenser on the Ren Lucy front, and so Harry interjected with, "I'd say anyone who was supposed to have a dragon skin purse made out of a dragon she killed with her bare hands deserves to think a little highly of herself."

He chuckled at Ren's comment about numbers. "Yes, I suppose there is an upside to it."

Jaina slowed a bit when she entered the corner, her eyes taking in the scenery as she returned. Harry seemed rather happy, but she knew that look on Lucy's face, and the fact that it was directed at Ren only made her a little nervous.

"Who wants drinks?" She asked, handing Lucy a firewhiskey and Ren a butterbeer before she returned to her previous seat. She rubbed the back of her neck uncomfortably, "Oh, and I managed to pick up a stray by the refreshments."

"So this is where the real party is~" Jim said, coming up behind Jaina and grinning at the group. "Catty, Ren, Harry, Lucy~ I wondered where all my favourite people had gone. Mind if I join you?"

Not waiting for a reply he pulled a chair over and settled comfortably into it. "I have to say, you're all looking exceptionally fabulous tonight, ladies~" he complimented with a brilliant smile. "And Ren and Harry too, of course." he added after a moments thought.

Catty chose to not answer to Lucy, partly because she might have been a little intimidated by the older girl--and with the rumors flying around about her, who wouldn't have taken a moment's hesitation?--and mostly because the air of tension between her and Ren.

"Popcorn sounds great right now," she said. She moved her head to the side to get her mouth closer to Harry's ear, lowering her voice to a soft whisper. "And with the way Lucy's whole attitude shifted with Ren, I'd say some of those curses might fly, but not at us."

She glanced up as Jaina came back, the host of their party following behind her. She grinned wide at him, lifting her other hand to wave at him. "Jiiim!" Catty had always liked him. She thought he was funny, and flirting with him was always fun. "You don't look half bad yourself," she replied, smiling at the compliment.

The look Lucy gave him didn’t go unnoticed but Ren’s attitude never changed from the laid back, relaxed appearance that he normally portrayed. The two of them were on good terms for the most part but those times were very few and didn’t occur till after a few drinks from the both of them. They had some history before she left, that’s all. Ren quirked an eyebrow at Harry’s statement and turned to Lucy, “Is that what all the little ones are saying about you now?” He asked, jerking a thumb back at Harry, “Damn, I guess it is deserved. Just one step closer to your lifelong goal, huh? Well done.”

He accepted the butterbeer from Jaina with a thanks and, towards Jim, Ren gave a mock-salute. “Hello, good sir,” He said while opening the bottle and taking a swig, “Hope the music was to your standards.”

Oh, yeah. She had definitely thought about punching him. In fact, she was pretty sure should could remember a very satisfying sound when she clocked him back in second year. Little smartass.
So maybe she wasn't the best at keeping her temper when she got really annoyed. But, hey, he was really annoying. "Yep. I'm headed for the big time. How's wasting your life working for you?" While her smile remained in place, her voice had a sharp edge. She wouldn't hesitate to hit him again, if he mouthed off at her ( ... )

Well, this was turning into quite the show, or a potential natural disaster...Harry had been just kidding about the whole curse flying thing, although it looked more like Lucy was going to deck someone. He was debating how best to break up a fight without getting killed, when suddenly Catty's voice was whispering in his ear, which proved a bit more distracting than she had probably intended it to be ( ... )

"Kirk, all ladies look fabulous to you," Jaina said dismissively, turning her attention to the crowd again as she sat down.

Jaina snorted and tried not to either A. roll her eyes or B. blush after Lucy's comment, settling instead for taking a long drink out of her butterbeer instead of having to provide an answer. She watched as Catty whispered something in Harry's ear, a twinge of amusement filtering through her.

Jaina felt a bit of curiosity pull at her after Harry's comment, "Luke Skywalker? You know my uncle?" She asked, a bit of confusion pulling at her.

Jim gave Catty a charming smile. "Why, thank you~" He took a quick sip of his drink to hide the smile that was forming as picked up on the antagonistic vibe between Ren and Lucy. "Yeah- It was alright~" he said to Ren, shrugging half-heartedly. "You guys did have only a week to get it all ready~" He paused and grinned at the guy, letting him know it was a joke. Jim knew he could always count on Ren to pull off some kind of musical wonder.

He raised his glass to Lucy and then to Jaina beside him, "I'll drink to that. Never stop being irresistible, Jaina," He gave her a quick wink and took another deep drink.

Jim nodded cheerfully at Harry. He was a good kid, for a Gryffindor, though, as he'd said, he was just a bit of a recluse. But that was nothing that hanging out with all these girls couldn't fix.

"Is that really so bad?" he asked Jaina, his face radiating innocence.

When Harry asked if he was more Clark Kent or Luke Skywalker, Catty twitched and licked her lips. Nothing serious, nothing really noticeable unless she was under the microscope of scrutiny.

When Jaina responded in confusion about her uncle, Catty stiffened somewhat. She sat up straight, removing her elbow from Harry's shoulder, and clasping both hands in her lap. "Jaina, Luke Skywalker is your uncle?" She tried desperately to keep the awe from her voice.

“Quite well, thanks for asking,” He said with a nod and, after another drink, raised his bottle, “And best of luck to you too in your dreams to sink Australia.” Okay, the whole Australia thing was just another rumour that he knew wasn’t true. It was just back in 5th year she screamed it out while drunk and Ren has been referring to it as her life’s goal ever since. He probably was the originator of that specific rumour but, it was all in good fun. Lucy however, never thought he was funny. Kind of a shame really.

He picked up easily on Jim’s joke and said with a small grin, “Sadly, a week was simply not enough time to find a drummer. Sorry to have failed with that but, all the drummers I knew were good graduated already.”

Now that the subject had turned towards Jaina, Ren just shrugged. He didn’t really like to gossip about family matters of other people but, he did know a bit of her family’s history.

"I don't know. Which one wears a bigger straw hat and chews more grass?" However, she had a good idea where this was going, especially with Catty's reaction. Oh boy. Hero worship time. Just listen out for how excited she isn't. Still, she shot Jaina an amused look. Have fun with that, her look said and she laughed quietly before taking another drink.

"You got it right, Jim. Here's to irresistible ladies." Including herself, because she was pretty great. Take note of her greatness, Ren.

Not that unlikely, actually. Her ex had a thing for Australia. Freaking Australia. Those jackasses. "Thanks. I'll be sure to save you a front row seat. The view from the Opera House should be pretty good." Lucy flashed him a smile that was either joking or slightly scary in it's innocence considering slightly threatening tone underneath her speech.

Ugh, this was why she didn't go to parties. There were people.
