Ren Faire went off to a rocky start, but on a whole ended up going really well. I had an awesome time despite a lot of people not being there who I kind of wished had been there. Oh well.

We drove up Wednesday night and made really good timing. Got in super late which always sucks. Courtney had her baby Thursday morning at 3:17am, Melonie Michelle ( Read more... )

Congrats! I must ask, though...what is the masterwork/knight artisan for? Curious minds want to know! :)

I play in another medieval group, the ECS. They work off of a points system, where you earn points for participating in things. Instead of having lower level awards, then the peerage (ie, having the flower of the desert, then the fleur de soleil, then Laurel) we have levels or tiers of knighthood. In order to advance, you must submit what's called a MasterWork and have it pass. A MasterWork is like an uber-excellent piece, be it performance, visual, etc. You pass 1, you advance rank for your first level knight artisan (like a flower). You pass 4, you advance rank for your second level (like a fleur). You pass 8, you achieve 3rd level (or your Laurel).
Geez, that sounds so confusing! I hope some of it made sense....

Ah, the ECS! I have heard of them before, and congratulations on the masterwork! I think I just got confused because you were at a fair, and I didn't realize 'court' type things happened :)

hehe, yeah, the Las Vegas Ren Faire is not like any other faire I've ever been to. It's more of a way for 'guilds' to recruit new members, so we still host courts and stuff like that. Thanks for the congrats; I'm excited to start working on new music now :o)
