So they announced recently that there are an "estimated" 8.7 million species on earth, including plants, animals, small things, and kinds of things that were evidently invented since I was at school.

Now, I mean, all well and good, but that's just an estimate. How can that be converted into a hard fact, the kind that wins in trivia games ( Read more... )

Like horses and donkeys...

But regardless, I still would like to see the logistics for rotifer/blue whale... just saying. I mean, they both live in salt water and such... but at some point, Size Does Matter(TM).

My goodness, you are right! And the added complexity boggles the mind. I mean, after we have crossed a blue whale with a rotifer, what would the offspring be most successful in breeding with? It might be a cabbage! Or a redwood-puffin.
