i made the request... and i never thought anyone would write it, much less as something so heartstopping. thank you. thank you so much. ♥ it's amazing and detailed and beautiful and bittersweet, and i love it and want to read it again and again.
this is one of my accidental otps, and everything i love about it is in this fic. the expression of their personalities and how they interact and even how he smells - it's all like... everything i imagined. and even more. i... cannot even tell you. ♥ syvia can vouch for the continuous keyboard smashing i was doing on aim while i was reading.
and and and yes. those awful monsters that you could run into accidentally, and how maria always thinks about leon, and all of the details of geography and landscape and world, and leon not alone in that sinister darkness, but kneeling before a man in gold, fair as the sun and terrible as burning, eeeee.
Hey, I recognize you from kh_drabble. :) And thank you! I was really fretting about whether the entire piece hung together and worked as a whole, so I'm awfully glad to hear that it did. Always glad to help out a fellow fan of this game.
There is a kind of rawness and wildness about that world I have always loved since I first played FFII. Maybe it's the stark simplicity of it, or the fact that wandering into the wrong area can put you in genuine peril, but it captures that feeling of wild beauty and lurking danger for me more acutely than many newer games with more impressive graphics do.
Thanks! This game gets so overlooked compared to the other FFs, it's rather frustrating. I figured that I might as well contribute to what little fandom does exist.
This is so many levels of gorgeous imagery. I absolutely loved all the tender details- from geography, to the vivid image of the characters. Your characterization was strong, and your Maria is just how I've always imagined her to be. She avoided being cliched and instead came off as an incredibly real and believable woman.
I loved the Remnant and how you showed the passing of time, and I really liked your description of healing magic. It may have been "basic" but I think it was the best route you could take. I can't even pick a favorite part, though Maria's 'premonition' was especially delicious. I think you are perhaps one of the most talented authors I have come across- and I would just die happy seeing more FF2 work from you.
