[Fic] Nana: A Day in the Life

Apr 11, 2006 16:18

Spoilers: none
Disclaimer: Nana belongs to Yazawa Ai, who is my favoritest mangaka in the world except possibly maybe Minekura Kazuya, and I love it to pieces and everyone should read it.
Notes: This was originally going to be a Christmas present for Mely. Then it was going to be a birthday present. Now it's just sort of random.

You like the way the table looks when it's set for two )

fandom: nana, fic

The world needs more Nana fanfiction too. (I don't suppose you could point me to any more?)

I found this one by chance, and it cheered me up no end after a dull day. Nana can't help but adore Hachi, can she? God knows she brightens up Nana's life no end.

Bravo. Any hope of more?

Thanks! Sadly, I don't think I've ever read any Nana fic, so I'm not the best of resources ;).

Eek! I just recced this and then realized I had never commented on in. I adore this. The friendship drew me into this series in the first place, and it's just so gentle and sweet here.

Oh, thank you! And thank you for the rec!

I am not sure if anyone realized, since I wrote this before vols. 2 and 3 came out here, but I totally stole the scenes from the covers of the manga.

Stupid Takumi for being so freakin' untouchable and seductive that he steals poor, naive little Hachi from her owners.

;_;

goes back to reread the good ole days.

I liked it, though I don't know if I liked the second person perspective for this... It seems more a Takumi feel than a Nana feel. I don't know, I would probably have enjoyed it more first person than third. But that's just preference ^_^;; 'Scuse my ramblings...

I'm glad you liked, and thanks for the feedback. It's sort of funny that it feels more like Takumi, since I wrote it back when I had only read up to vol. 5 and seen him for a few pages!

Hehe, it's not really that as second person suits Takumi. He's very calculating, and even though he's selfish and arrogant, he observes people in a very impersonal manner. So I can see the second person narrative suiting him as I can see himself view himself just as coolly and logically. I say Nana is more first person because she's also very selfish and arrogant, but she's hot-headed and passionate, unlike Takumi. So I can see her thinking of herself with a lot of I. Where as Hachi, who is very self-conscious and wants to always please others, might not be as connected with her own inner workings - hence usual confusion about her own feelings and going with the flow, which makes her sometimes appear shallow - so I would put her in third person format.

Not that I necessarily will always write them in this manner, but I just feel that's how I would categorize them...

Okay, that was way more thought put in than I expected ^_^;; Urr... sorry! But I still liked it! And Nana rules! Freakin' new chapters coming out so slow!!!

Found this through Google. I just had to leave a review, even if this was posted two years ago. That was some very nicely done second person - you made use of all the senses and painted such a clear, believable image of all the scenes, and of Nana and Nana and how much they enjoy each other's company. I like how you did it through Nana O's point of view, exploring why Hachi's presence and friendship means so much to her. It definitely captured their nearly-like-lovers-but-not-quite relationship. Wonderful job. ^^

Oh, thank you! It's always lovely when people comment on old stories, and I am particularly fond of this one because I love the Nana's so much!
