Poor Jim. And for the love of all that's holy, poor Spock Prime! It is my fondest and most evilest fangirl dream that the writers and a certain Mr. J.J. Abrams see this. I hope they get an appropriate kick in the pants. And that our beloved Star Trek T'hy'la find their way back to one another. FFS, it's the frickin 21st century, you'd think we'd all be a little more open minded about this by now. Oh, never mind, case in point being Maine. Anyway, beautiful work as always, and I bid you peace and long life.
(P.S. 'Warnings: het' Epic win for you, my dear.)

Rite? I will never stop angsting about Spock Prime's fate, but it really couldn't have ended any other way, and at least he's at peace with it.
That would be awesome. I really believe that the writers made K&S 'just friends' because they genuinely didn't know about all the hints in TOS that they were more than that. I'm certain that if they'd known, they would have had them hook up and presented it as though they were the first people in the world to do it.
Heh, if I'm gonna warn for slash, I'm sure as hell gonna warn for het!

Awww. You made me all teary-eyed at the end. Spock Prime may be at peace but his fate is still a very bittersweet one. It's just so totally unfair that Spock and Kirk were separated at Kirk's death and didn't have longer to live together. And I really resent Uhura taking away attention from the K&S relationship in the new movie. Either of the men developping a meaningful long-term relationship with anyone but each other is so un-canon.

I hear ya! Who was it that Spock was crying about having shameful feelings for in The Naked Time? Who was it that made Spock panic and call out their name when they was caught in a cave in in Devil in the Dark? Who was it that Spock told all about his "thing that no outworlder may know" mating cycle? Who was it that Spock reached out to and held hands with after having the revelation that simple feelings weren't so bad after all? Who was it that Spock spent his final minutes with when he died in Wrath of Khan? Who was it that Sarek came to, expecting to find Spock's katra, and decided that all was lost when it wasn't there? Who was it that Sarek entrusted with the task of retrieving Spock's body and bringing it to Vulcan?
Who is it, that is the most important, most influential person in Spock's life, outside of his parents? Who?

Ummm...is that a trick question? *tongue in cheek*

And you could have added countless others, like "Who was it he endangered the ship to find in The Tholian Web? Whom did Spock almost give his life to protect in The Apple? Who was the only person he allowed to touch him casually at any time, and even reach it to himself, as seen in Changeling, City at the Edge of Forever, Shore Leave, etc ? With who does he share countless meaningful looks with in Corbomite, Miri, And the Children shall lead,...? Whose command woud he follow to the end of the known universe and beyond?

*feels an urge to run home and watch more Star Trek*

At who's side does Spock canonically AND explicitly belong?

Take heed, NuTrek writers!

Guh. This is just... perfect. I think the bit that got me the most was Kirk's face when Spock and Uhura are kissing in the transporter room in combination with the music, because it made me see (notice?) nuances that I didn't before- the slight sadness, which can be interpreted any way the viewer wants, really, but I prefer to think that since it's post-meld it may have something to do with the fact that Spock is kissing someone that's not him. Anyway, beautiful job.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it in the cinema. There's the slightest hint of jealousy there, and I can't help but think that, after meeting with Spock prime, it's because he knew it was supposed to be him with Spock.
