radio & internship? marlenahooch July 30 2003, 13:32:09 UTC
I had a radio show last year and it was excellent. If you have enough music for a bluegrass one, that'd probably work well. You just need to show up for the general meeting at the beginning of the semester. I think the station has a small collection of bluegrass (and folk) stuff, but you need to make sure you'll have enough to play 2 hours a week for about 10 weeks. It'd be fun!

also, how'd you swing that internship? that sounds awesome. I want one.

Also, you were in my dream last night, and you were like, hanging out in washburn and acting like you were giong to live there, and somehow be my roommate (ok, it's a dream, it gets weird) and then you were all, "oh no, wait, I live in another house" and I was upset cuz Ithought you were abandoning me. Damn smith-anxiety dreams. You wont abandon me, right? right? Man, I'm not ready for smith again. sigh.

ok, later dude, have fun on the road trip. Stopping by Reed? if you are, try to find my friend Harold. he's disappeared, and I'm hoppin mad.

xoxo to you n everyone
Marley

i did 2 years as program director at the smith radio station--you could totally get a bluegrass show!!!! and also that doing radio is so fun!!!! i'm not sure if it is still the same, but specialty shows (aka not indie rock or hip hop) are on the weekends and sometimes in the early evening. also i think that with specialty they give you some money to pick up new CDs in your genre for the station. my friend jovana is going to be music director this year--send her a message on friendster or something, she might have more scoop.

Oh, that would be great to have funds to buy more CDs... My friend Lee also wants to have a bluegrass show at Oberlin (where she goes); wouldn't it be fun to have bluegrass shows at the same time?? Anyway, we bought some new CDs "for the show" -- but really it's just because we wanted them. I think it'll be so fun! Glad to hear you had a positive experience being director.

umm, I think it's a classics-related journal, maybe students work in Latin and/or Greek??

Anyway, you'll probably hate Thalia, but then maybe you can come with me to her house and we'll drink scotch and all be friends. She's interesting. What's awesome about her is that even if you're a total fuck in class she'll still like you... She doesn't lose respect for slackers. Her major pet peeve is that she doesn't like fake people. But you're not, so A + Lily! Also, I'm excited to see you, so soon!
