anyone with "pnwumc" as an interest catches mine. then i look at your page and you've also got camp indianola on there, i really have to figure out whether i know you. hi. i'm mary. i'm from seattle and surrounding areas, and just came off my second summer as indianola site staff, before which i'd been camper there for 14 years or somthing ridiculous. *waves*

Hey Mary!

We may know each other; I have some pictures in my LJ Gallery you could look at to see if you recognize me. I was doing a lot of summer camps at Indianola in late senior high/early college, which was back between like 98-02. I'm at Seattle U right now working on a MA Pastoral Counseling degree and am a certified candidate for ordained ministry in the order of Deacon.

I looked at your info and it seems we have other things in common besides the conference! I'll add you to my friends list; you can add me if you like :)

Yeah I remember getting a text from you awhile back... I had kipepeo18 routed just to my phone, now the AIM name I use is selah415. I'm not on that often but at least I DO use it from time to time :)

I just had to drop you a note to say that I totally LOVED your post on the christianleft community.

My life has changed completely over the last year because of the kind of things you pointed out in that post. When I started working with the homeless at a local shelter, I felt like I was seeing God in action. It was the first time I'd found a ministry that I didn't have to force myself to do -- it was a real passion of mine.

Things started there...and then I quit my job to work for a company that makes software for YMCAs. I'm also doing freelance work for a Christian Marketing firm (we had nothing to do with any of the stuff I've posted, btw. I'm not going to pull any of that nonsense).

I'm part of a home group (or "community group") that has really taken a close look at what our priorities should be -- how we can BE the church, not just GO to church.

It's been encouraging to find other people out there, like you and some of the other posters, who feel the same way.

hey thanks! My own transformation has been more theoretical, I am sorry to say. It originates a lot from discussions with marginalized groups online, as well as my seminary classes (I'm in a MA Pastoral Counseling program). Very soon I hope to begin putting it into action more... the counseling is the main area I think I can do that... the best expression of my gifts.

Thanks for the add--I'll add you back! Most of my entries tend to be more personal and less theological, though those do come up, like today!

I think it's wonderful that you're doing counseling. So many people need that these days.
