this post if for everyone so, please, if you put spoilers in your comment use the spoiler tag ;)
ETA: the thread contains mild spoilers now.
Poll Will you read the spoilers?
eta: here have a new S/U still (not spoilery for the ones that have already watched the nine minutes preview but I still put it under the spoiler tag) [an enterprising pair]
I'm one of those who want to know the spoilers and will want to read about everything. I want to know who John Harrison really is. What's going on with Spock and his whole PTSD. I want to know what's going on with Spock/Uhura. I want to know whose hand in on the glass in that scene with Spock. Just put me down for everything.
Besides, we don't know how many will be seeing the movie on the 23rd in Australia. Who knows if we'll even get spoilers.
I voted for the second option. I don't want every little detail about the plot but I need to know what happens to S/U I can't watch without knowing. Huge part of the reason is that I'm so worried about them I hope that the writers surprise me because I don't have so much faith in them right now.
besides, I won't be able to watch the movie too soon here where I'm at the moment and I can't wait another month!
someone from Australia or London here? pleaseeeeeeee
I have worked really hard this time to not be spoiled. I haven't read or watched anything about the movie. I want everything to be a complete surprise. XD
Aww, nuts. I forgot about the April 23rd screening. Here I was, thinking about how cool it was that New Zealand is, I think, the first place (courtesy of our proximity to the date line) to get the movie for general showing on May 9th, and I was thinking there wouldn't be too much spoilery stuff on the 'net before I got to see it...
I'm someone who doesn't really want to be spoiled, but really, really cannot help myself from looking at spoilers. Like, I don't want to know how a book ends, but I literally can't stop myself turning to the last page. Yes, I have problems. Not sure if I'll peek or not at the movie stuff. I know I did last time and everyone was going on about "OMG, Spock and Uhura are a couple!" and "OMG, they destroyed Vulcan!". Sometimes I like going to something with a bit of foreknowledge, so... yeah. *shrug*
On a side note, that picture reminds me of that scene in The Wrath of Khan where Khan lifts Chekov (see below) - 'cause it totally looks like she's picking him up (and not straining at all!). LOL
I may be wrong but I think that London gets the movie may 2th! that's close to
I know what you mean about spoilers, I don't want them but I can't help it!
when I watched the first movie I did it without knowing that S/U were a couple or that vulcan got destroyed so those things were surprises (one nice, one not so much) for me and I love that and part of me wants to experience that again. But thing is, I can't do it for the second movie. I'm too invested in the pair now and I fear they ruined it I can't watch without knowing if they end up together or not (and I need to know if they kill one of the main characters) because I know that if I watch without knowing it will ruin my perception of the movie.. I won't be able to enjoy the good if I keep expecting something bad to happen
I totally voted for the second option. I just need to know that S/U make it and I'll be able to relax. If they don't make it, I just need to be prepared so I don't make a fool of myself in the theater with my wailing. I will literally start crying, so I need ot get my feels out before I go see the movie. Also, I will punch someone if I hear any clapping if they breakup. I swear...
I really will have to be held back. Luckily, when I went to see the first movie, most people were hooting and when S/U kissed, so that was good. But, now that I know how the fandom can be I'm expecting to run into a hater. The fandom is such a bubble, so the haters are magnified. I hope I just get bask in lovely S/U gorgeousness and cackle at any haters.
Teener, I really don't think the haters are a majority; tho they can be very nesty, I think they are a VERY VOCAL m i n o r i t y. A lot of non-Trekkers like the couple. I hope to heaven that JJ & Co. are NOT LISTENING to the haters.
We need to register our love for S/U - if all you do is go on TrekMovie.com and tell them we like the couple [and you can make up a pseudonym EVERY TIME if you want], Bob Orci will see our comments, b/c he checks the website.
There are haters-masking-as feminists ["no one should have a love relationship, it's fraternization-unprofessional-distracts from their duties, it makes Uhura look lame b/c she's the only female"], which I find hilarious - "we'll diss a CANON relationship to support a relationship THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN ON-SCREEN" Pardon my rolly-eyes ....
