maybe I missed something, but what do caveats like "mostly safe" and "harmless" mean?

I took it to be another way of saying that there were no caveats. I'd have to read the fics to be sure, though. Please let me know if there are any problems.

I understand that people may want to know if the fic features elements they are not interested in reading but to deem them as "safe' or 'harmless' seems to suggest gen readers are likely to faint if our delicate sensibilities are exposed to something we don't like! And as a Gen writer i'd hate to have my fic described as "harmless".

However these are just my opinions, and i understand if the comm works another way.

No, that's a good point, It does seem an odd way to say it. I thought about deleting those lines but didn't get around to it.
