I would like to be drinking coffee, but we have no coffee beans in the house, and my foot still hurts from breaking my toenail last night. So I am drinking nothing, while I wait for the boyfriend to get dressed and go get us coffee.

A depressingly small turnout, but most of the summaries look promising.

Summergen did well. So gen longfic may be dying (though there were certainly some gen BBs and the Sastiel BB and SDMB allow gen, too, so there may be a couple there -- does DCBB take gen? Were there any?), but it's a bit early to declare the whole genre dead.

It may just be that something that overlapped that closely with both summergen and spn_j2_bb wasn't timed well.

Well I'd say fandom os Noe more shipping focused than ever so it'd be no surprising.

I don't think that's true. It seems the new generation of fans are from tumblr and only focused on shipping. They probably don't even know people write genfic.
