Oh it's so good to see how much John loved Dean before it all went to hell. ♥ holding him as they both slept and making him pie for breakfast. Just father and son. ♥

Aww thank you, my lovely *smoochifies* ♥♥ and haha actually he was gonna take him out to a diner lol before going to the park lol and well you know young Mary called John sweet, and I think at his core he was always a good man, even though as you said things went to hell after Mary died, but yeah I like thinking they had that :) John loved them fiercely, he just lost sight of how to reconcile between being their father and keeping them safe from all the evil he just learned about, and of course hunting for the demon.

It breaks my heart to think of the lovely family they had, how devoted they were to each other and their boys. I remember Dean and Sam talking the guy who John shared the garage with and him saying, " Oh, he sure loved Mary. And he doted on those kids." To have his life torn apart by something he can't explain or be able to share with anyone... needing to keep his boys safe, but also making them prepared for what was out there. It breaks my heart.

Gah, I know, BB!! *clings to you* It hurts so fucking much!! And yes John got a very raw deal. He really did the best he could within the circumstances. Without Mary he was rudderless, if they'd gotten thrown (back) into the hunting world together, things could have been different, Mary, would have prioritised the boys more. But John was on his own with no one to guide him, yes he made friends down the line, but I don't think he trusted any of them enough to share in his burden or lighten his load. Yeah he had other folk look after Sam and Dean sometimes, but I don't think he liked not having them under his own eye. I don't think he ever slept much when he had to be away from them.

Aw, thank you so much, my dear! This is so sweet and something I totally believe happened. I love John trusting Mary, transferring sleeping Dean to their bed, playing with Dean and telling him how much he loved him *sobs*

And I loved Dean wanting to go to the park and “Pie for beck-fast!” Dean repeated as he clapped his little hands. made me tear up, it's so sweet and so sad, knowing what's to come for them all.

But pie for breakfast made me smile too, it's such a dad thing to do!

Thanks sooooo much *hugs*

:D:D Aahh, thank you so very very much, BB!! I'm so glad you liked it *smishes and squishes* I don't think it would have happened often, but I think there'd be a rare occasion when Mary would catch wind of a hunt that she couldn't just ignore. And I think John would have just trusted her, much like he did with regards to her parents, and well when Mary tried to tell him, said there were things he didn't know about her, he told her he didn't care, or well he says: "So? I will always love you for exactly who you are. " - so yeah.

Though I also imagine that when John did find out about Mary being a hunter, coming from a family of hunters, and about her deal with Yellow Eyes he would have been pissed.

But in the tra la la before the evil, and as much as it still also hurts to think of the father John was and could have continued to be, I do love thinking of them together like this, and I'm really pleased you liked the pie for breakfast!! And ha yes such a Dad thing to do, "Your mom's not here so I get to be the cool fun parent" lol

♥♥

Do you think John knew about Mary's hunting background? I don't think it was ever mentioned, not until Dean went back in time, but perhaps John found out from other hunters. I'm sure he would've been pissed, as they could've taken steps to prevent what happened to Mary and to Sam if he'd known.

I loved your John here, such a loving and fun dad.

Oh yeah, John found out, I forget where I read/heard/saw it, but Eric Kripke has said that John knew everything the whole Yellow Eyes/Lucifer plan, and everything that gets revealed to the boys up to the end of season 5, before he died, and well in my opinion that's why John lasted so long in hell and didn't break, I mean he was the most stubborn bastard anyway, but he knew that breaking and taking Alistair's deal would break the first seal, and that's why he didn't. So yeah he found out about Mary, I mean we know he looked into Yellow Eyes and all the folk he made a deal with around the same time he made the deal with Mary, and I'm willing to bet that he would have found out about all Mary's friends and family that got killed too. He's not the type to have left any stone unturned. And well I mean there was the whole telling Dean he might have to kill Sam business ( ... )
