Ah-! [She notices the little guy, bending down to see him better] Hello... what are you doing?

[DOUBLETAKE IS GO. mid-step, weighted down by a sizable stone in his arms, Chey cranes his head up and gawks.

the familiarity clicks in a couple seconds later, along with thought-voice:]

Madoka is here now hello...I am drawing the line more here now.

What's the line for?

[he looks down at it.]

I must draw the line of everything I must remember and know always.

[maybe it's the paint fumes, bro. or maybe that really is a little guy pushing a thick chunk of branch across the ground, evening out the dirt. and maybe it does take a while, but said little guy eventually does catch glimpse of a big, bulky shape stopped and staring and in turn stops to stare back up at it.

oh.

that is a shiny, dirty body...]

[eyes snapping back up to the big person face, Chey's head tilts just so slightly, regarding hello.

a whole lot of awkward is then avoided through the mercy of a budding education and a little bit of activity; he left his Legionnaire ring dangling by its ribbon from one of those spindly, low-hanging branches, near but out of his way. he needs to only shuffle back a couple steps to reach up and tug it free.

ring-in-hand, he gawks back up and swallows before speaking aloud:]

Hello. Yes.

[Jast is... rather curious about that tree, and while he is aware the tiny one is there, he is quite content to leave him alone, going nowhere near him, really. He lays both hands on the tree, but he has never seen anything like this and is unsure what has caused such a transformation.

He begins to trill worriedly at the tree, sad little bird noises full of question and concern.]

[shoot, Chey's not even the slightest bit bothered by it. in fact, it's a helluva lot more soothing than green...wishing so hard to be brought to a home that suits him best is what's warping the flora around his line, for sure.

sans the poison air. obviously.

and Jast can chirp and titter all he wants; Chey's got rocks to shove. granted, rock-shoving will cease the moment he sees that big shape not leaving, but...]

[Jast is so terribly glad there's no poison air. So terribly glad. He spends a few quiet moments with the tree, chirping at it in concern, but the soft replies he receives (the tiny sounds of liquid soaking into roots, of insects scurry across the bark, wind moving the leaves) do not indicate pain to him. He runs his hand down the bark gently before turning to investigate the shrubs, dropping down to his knees to touch the curled roots, to peer down into the little tunnel, and eventually to look quietly at the etchings in the ground and the tiny alien.]

[he gets increasingly more anxious as he sees big-person mulling around his living/workspace. his frown gets frownier as it all goes, completely interrupted and half-crouched with intention to keep pushing rocks, but not entirely sure he can trust the big person with a quick look away.

when observed, he starts to shrink, completely unsure of what to make of all this investigating.

ulp.]

[Having thoroughly explored his own district, Leoben has taken to exploring the others. Needless to say, this is something entirely new to him when he comes across it.

It takes him a few moments to notice Chey, but he doesn't say anything quite yet, since Chey looks busy. He'll content himself with watching the little alien do his work.]

[work which is concluding the evening out of a fresh patch of dirt, completely bare and debris-free. it took him a while, given how deep weed roots go.

his human-like gesture of clapping dirt off his hands while huffing with satisfaction is kind of comical on someone so tiny, but there it is. he starts scoping out the area, as if looking for clues for where to start next; doing so leads him to see the feet still standing there nearby.

he stares a bit longer before glancing up and seeing someone very unfamiliar. his hands retract to settle under his chin, wrists being wrung slowly, but surely, in a show of unease.]

[As dangerous as Leoben can be, most of the time he tries not to make himself too threatening. He feels bad if others are scared of him, since, honestly, he comes in peace. So he kneels down to bring himself a little closer to Chey's level.]

Is this all your work?

[Chey in turn begins to shrink as he kneels, well until he feels the need to plant his palms on the ground for balance. once the shift in distance is established, he eventually sits up, staring very intently at Leoben's mouth as the words come out. he mouths them in repetition, unheard.

when it's been deciphered, he looks a little lost. he shoots a fast look over his shoulder at his line, then back up, head tilted with inquiry. is that what he meant?]

[HELLO WHAT'S ALL THIS HAPPENING OVER HERE OH HOW INTERESTING THIS ALL IS

Now finally rid of her bright pink paint thanks to Jast's care, Tinker Bell is now free to flit around the Wonderland District and put her nose in all sorts of curious places where it's not wanted. Having spied Chey's (comparatively still large in Tink's eyes) figure working on his line she darts over to have a closer look. She buzzes up and down over the little plot enthusiastically, examining this and that as she goes, with her miniature Seal dangling from around her neck like a pendant and trailing glittery speckles of fairy dust in her wake]

It's a treasure map! [and then with the air of a complete expert:] Oh yes! I've seen treasure maps before!

[bees and other insects were scary at first, but with repetition came acceptance, and those were welcome to go about their business as they pleased, granted Chey could go about his own.

this maybe-insect, on the other hand, is a startling new thing full of startling light and way too much speed. he fumbles with the twig that he had been carrying in-hand, ultimately dropping it and looking all the more unhappy for it, too afraid to pick it up again while trying to track the little thing's movements.

and then it had to start up talking. he looks very concerned.

her ears are tiny enough to pick up his uttering unaided, no doubt, but it's all just a bunch of chatty gobbledygook anyhow, something to accent his anxious hand-wringing and false-starts into motion. the ground may've well been quick-dry cement for all the moving he tried and failed to do.]

[Chey's concern bounces straight off the boisterous little fairy as she continues to zip around the plot. She nods approvingly at everything, reaching out to come within a hair's breadth of touching all the little details that catch her quickly-shifting gaze]

Where is the treasure? [terribly taken by this prospect of adventure (it's what Peter would like, after all) Tink clasps her hands excitedly and zooms closer to Chey in a sparkling streak of light] We should find it! Oh, let's!

[and she suddenly darts away again, feet kicking and wings fluttering, to zip around and re-examine everything all over again]

[oh. what a terrible creature. Chey's fret-o-meter is starting to max, flinching and wincing at all the too-closeness of the thing flitting about it. his fingers dig into the sides of his face, dragging down, feeling no comforting ooze anymore. THAT JUST MAKES IT WORSE.

he flinches wholly, enough to gain lift and float up and backward from the thing, hands covering his eyes, letting out an unhappy moan.]
