ninth little action
[the foliage in the Wonderland District has always been a little odd, but the stuff happening next to the cottage addressed 103 Aesop is just getting weird.
for one, the branches are starting to get puffy and curl in on themselves, turning a teal and full of yellow bumps. the way only the parts closest to the ground are changing to this, it looks like some kind of a disease.
there are tubular plants that widen out at the tip, almost like toadstools, but rather fragile to the touch. they're a neon orange. they're scattered in small clumps of ten or so, here and there, some looking to grow two feet tall where the shade is nicest.
roots of one of the effected shrubs are starting to get bulbous and curl out of the ground in arches, almost like a little pathway to the ground below. it's cleared out like a little tunnel there. some of the ground is starting to get a bluish tint, especially by the big little art show that's been growing on that cleared plot, seven-by-nine feet now. it's full of all the things Chey has to remember here, and he's not even done yet.
he's at work again, stacking pebbles and moving twigs, pulling grass and other things out of the dirt to keep it all clear. when he needs a break, there's a small pile of books near the cottage wall for him to retire to, along with a box of half-eaten sugar cubes. work, work, work.
