[. . . he wilts a little.]

. . . Once I finish, says Boswell.

Why are you talking like that?

Because I am speaking, says Boswell.

[William sees the towering stack of books atop the table and figures some inconsiderate person must have just left without putting them back. He huffs and walks over, finally noticing Snake huddled amidst the book. That frown still stays on his face, though.]

You should dog-ear the pages. It ruins the quality of the books.

"Dog-ear"...? Says Wilde.

Folding the corners of the pages down. We have other methods for you to mark points of interest. Ones that don't damage the books.

[He's walking with a few books in hands, about to go sit on a table- then he notices the stash of books]

You really want to read all of that?

[ Her head tilted in curiosity at the overwhelming stack of books. Though it wasn't as mind boggling as the man sitting at the table with a bunch of snakes wrapped around his body. She really hoped that those snakes weren't poisonous. ]

Why do you have so many snakes, onii-chan?

[he doesn't quite recognize that she's speaking to him at first, since he doesn't recognize the name she mentioned, but he was the only one with snakes in the area, so . . .]

. . . Because they are my companions, says Wilde.

[ She blinks and stares at the snakes. Does that mean they were friendly snakes? ]

Oh . . . So they never tried to bite you, Wilde onii-chan?

[ The way he spoke was strange. It was just as strange as Vorona's way of speaking. Though she's going to assume that Wilde is the man's name. ]

[the only trouble with snake's peculiar way of speaking is that he would often switch between speaking for himself and speaking for the snakes without any indication of which, and often without the other person realizing the change. so, since the girl had directly addressed wilde, he now spoke for wilde instead of himself.]

We have no reason to bite each other, says Wilde.
