Speaking with more and more of you, I have found I am not the only one who has authority dealing with souls. If you could all appease my curiosity, how is death handled in the world you come from?

Well, uh. It's supposed to be simple, really. You die, there's a funeral, everyone sings a hymn or two and then you're buried. [you can practically hear the frown in Julian's voice. He wants to talk about being a vampire, but he doesn't actually want to out himself.] But. It can get complicated, I suppose.

Yes, that is the ideal situation. However, complication arises more than I care to think about. [A bit of a grumble is heard afterward]

*Well, this is a VERY uncomfortable topic for her. Souls she SORT of understands, but...*

Um... w, well, it, it depends. *she is not happy about it, but it sounded like how it's done is important.*

Well, if they are a boy or a girl, and whether they have a mate...

We don't know what happens to boys. They probably die, because they simply kind of go off, and we never see them again, so... But, spiritually? No clue. *Honestly? They aren't even sure if they have souls or not. It tends to be a thing of debate.*

If they're a girl, then, they have a big funeral, and lay them down where they enjoyed life most, such as an "oyster" garden, if they loved to work there. If they have a mate, she will tear off one the arms, and eat it, keeping a part of their lover with them for the rest of their life. I guess you could consider a part of their soul with them, too.

*She honestly doesn't see why this would weird people out. Isn't it sweet; to not even part, even after death?*

So, I assume, females are held in higher regard in your world?

[A pause as he realizes what that last part was.]

I cannot imagine having my arm eaten under such circumstances. Not that I have ever had a 'mate', as you refer to it. Certainly, an interesting ritual.

[Interesting, yet confusing to him. He assumes you are humanoid.]
