For those of you with a windows machine and thinking of upgrading to iTunes 7. Think carefully:

1. iTunes 7 has a new "gap analysis" engine that requires about 20 minutes per 1000 songs to analyze your library. If you upgrade, don't do it in the middle of your workday. It hogs the processor and kills your music playback.

So last night was chore night, and in addition to the normal groceries/library/cleaning/etc. we hung the curtains we got last week. Now there's yellow and blue valences in the kitchen and floor length white sheers in the bedroom. terriergirl's computer is dead again. Two or three device drivers have decided to use the same number and now the computer has problems booting, and when it does manage to boot it BSODs (Blue Screen of Death) within an hour. And why did this happen? This is my theory ( Read more... )

So we're about 80% certain that the problem is with the ISP. We've run a bazillion tests. Seems that everwhere except the home office the program works fine. In the home office we get hanging pages and page not found errors. The ISP is apparantly not very compitent. So today I went out to do my errands. Hit Office Max and then the Verizon store where I did the dance of paperwork to convince them that yes, the phone I was holding was mine and yes, I was authorized to make changes to my plan since it's mine, and yes it's ok for them to repair it.
