So I am trying to write what I guess would be called an album.  That is the end goal so far.  I have one song in which I've almost completed the first draft.  I've done revisions on the various parts of the song, but it hasn't been complete yet.  Now this is exactly where you separate the people who sink and the people who swim.  Since conception

When it comes to creative writing, I know for myself it is difficult to force yourself to write something, especially something project related. Something that can help is to try to do free writing about unrelated stuff. It can help to free yourself from "obligation" and open you up more. And sometimes, you'll be inspired and something will come to you.

It's good that you recognize the drafting aspect of writing, though. In your own eyes, a piece may never be done. But, over time and revision, it will improve to be the best it can be. Keep it up!
