It would have been a lie to say that the heat wasn't bothering him. He'd already shed his uniform jacket hours ago to stay cool in the blazing rise of temperature. Unforutnatly, one less piece of clothing was not making a difference. The cotton of his white dress shirt had already begun to stick to his skin, weighing heavily down with the sweat it quickly absorbed. Touya wasn't a stranger to labor or working in the sun; as a matter of fact, he was the type who coud preform any task needed of him without so much as a complaint. Even now, he wouldn't breath an ill word. But then again, what he'd been doing was not for profit.

It was to help his sister.

His stomach growled, aching with an emptyness that came from lack of food. He ignored it. The lids of his eyes felt like bricks and yet, they didn't fall. He insisted that they not rest. Not in an unfamiliar place like this and definately not when Sakura was still missing. Common sense told him that he needed to fullfill his own needs to continue pressing on at full force, but the heat had taken a drastic toll. Worse yet, every path he took and each door he passed through lead him to one unfamiliar, deserted landmark after another. It was like he was being forced to stumble through alone and off chart. The elder Kinomoto could still sense the dense smog that clouded his powers from directing him toward Sakura. Something or someone wanted to keep him away.

The man brought a shaky hand to clutch near his heart. There wasn't any physical pain, but the desperation left inside filled Touya with a familiar feeling that was painstaking all the same. What was it? This heartbreaking emotion that ate away at his very exsistence?

That's right.

His chapped lips parted, forming a name despite the word failing to audiably escape.

'Kaasan.

His mother had passed away when he was just a child. It hurt then, though he did his best to stay strong and grow fast for both his father and the small girl with him. There was nothing he could do, but look after the girl his mother blessed him and his father with. Despite being able to still see his mother from time to time (a guardian angel who lifted his spirits with her soft smile), there was a twinge of pain that remained. A reminder of sorts. He wouldn't let that weepy cry baby named after cherry blossoms fall. A simple, sibling responsibilty became a duty. He practically raised his sister. Cared for her. Protected her. Sadly, there were things he began to notice. Dangerous situations she would dive into. Power much more tapped than his own growing within that small body worried him. But he couldn't hold her back from experiencing her own life or force her to tell him something she felt was safer as a secret. Instead, he continued protecting and catching her. Sheilding her from injuries if he could help it. Support her even with the wall, her "secret", still up.

Touya didn't want to lose her. He didn't want to see Sakura as an angel like his mother. She'd become the most important person to him. Imagining her life taken from the world... his world would be too much to bare. She had her life to live and he wanted to continue watching her grow past the age their mother had lived. And more.

He staggered, holding himself upright. His eyes fell upon a tower that vaguely reminded him of the one in Tokyo. Had he gone so far as to go home? No. Hardly. That same malicious energy he'd sensed from the church loomed heavily around the Tower as well.

Without so much as thinking, his body had slumped against the nearest wall. Oddly, it felt cool against his skin or maybe it was in his mind. He sunk down till he sat on the floor, head leaning against the wall. He kept trying to will his feet to get him up, but they finally defied him. Nothing responded.

He tightly shut his eyes and breathed the hot air into his lungs.

He couldn't be done searching! He.. just couldn't stop.

He hoped someone was looking after her. That spirit (mirror card) that helped Sakura many times by standing in as her double-- he prayed she was looking out for his sister. And... mother. Mother too. He silently prayed, pleading for their mother to keep watch on Sakura for the both of them.

Until he'd reach her. Somehow...

If he'd ever regain the strength to stand and walk through the maze, better known as the city.
