Yachiru quickly climbed to the roof after her encounter with Naoki, a little tired from yelling and fighting with the demon. Really, he shouldn't have hurt blondie in the first place

Riku wasn't particularly prepared to be lunged at by anything small, cute, and spazztastically energetic. He lost his balance sightly but he was slready sitting so it didn't matter much.

At first he only saw a blur of black and a familiar pink, but it wasn't until he sat back up that he realized it was an acquaitance of his. "Pinku-chan?"

He gave a faint smile. Seconds ago he didn't want to see anyone, but Yachiru seemed to change his mind.

He patted her on the head. "Why do I always seem to meet you on roof tops? Are you secretly a monkey?" he teased.

"Yeah!" Yachiru beamed at the use of her new nickname, putting a little bit of distance between them so she could see his face. "How are 'ya?"

She pouted at the monkey bit Riku mentioned, but didn't get upset too much because Riku had nicely patted her on the head. "Mou!"

Riku turned and looked out at the sky. "Hey Pinku, have you ever seen the ocean?"

Though Yachiru seemed to radiate an abundance of joy, Riku still was distant. His eyes were somewhat glazed over, and they had lost some of their shine.

She lighted up when Riku finally agreed, and expressed her jubilation by jumping up and down happily. The little tidbit about having to be stuck with Riku didn't bother her that much - trouble usually followed people, so she'd have her fun when it happened.

"Yatta~! Ne, ne, can we start now?"

Riku looked to the dark sky as if it could relay the answers he was looking for. He couldn't hear anyone nearby. It was best to move swiftly at this time.

"Let's go," he said in a low voice before reaching the ladder to take them off the roof.

His eyes adjusted to the darkness quickly. He had become accustom to moveing blindly and it sharpened his other senses. No danger was present so he called up to the other, "Can you get down?" He thought the night would make it harder for her to find her way.

"No," she called back down, swinging her Zanpakutou over her shoulder before bending her knees and gathering energy to the soles of her feet. "I'll be fine."

Then Yachiru jumped. It was only two floors anyway, and she had jumped farther before.

Landing neatly beside Riku, she dusted the hem of her hakama, looked up, and smiled. "Let's go!"

Riku looked at her with his eyes wide. There was no way that she just jumped down with such ease and then smiled. Where did this girl come from? He would have told her not to go doing anything else that was reckless but she had done this like it was second nature. He had noted her sword before but never thought much about it. When he was younger, he constantly had a wooden sword at his side. But her sword didn't seem like the kind of thing to play with.

"Pinku? Where did you say you were from?" He asked though he knew she never had told him in the first place. She was dressed in black despite her colorful behavior and seemed to hold abilities not expected of a young girl. Just exactly how old was she? She had to be younger than he was before he left his island. Perhaps 10?

If only he knew XD
